  • Re-verified directly against angelone.in/support/charges-and-cashbacks/ on 2026-07-25 — all figures unchanged from the original 2026-07-22 research. Angel One's own page states the delivery/intraday rate is "effective from November 1, 2024" — some older third-party reviews still describe Angel One as offering free delivery brokerage, which predates this change.
  • Referral terms: the site owner's supplied figure (~₹300 per referral) is roughly consistent with several third-party sources describing Angel One's consumer refer-and-earn program, but no single official page was found confirming one fixed current amount (sources ranged ₹300-₹750, voucher-based). Verify before relying on it. `referralUrl` remains a placeholder regardless.

About Angel One

Founded
1996
Broker type
full-service
Parent company
Angel One Limited

Angel One — known as Angel Broking until an August 2021 rebrand — was founded in 1996 by Dinesh Thakkar, who remains its Chairman and Managing Director, and is headquartered in Mumbai. It's one of the longest-running brokers on this list, alongside Sharekhan, and started life as a traditional full-service brokerage with in-house research, advisory desks, and a physical branch network, long before discount broking existed in India.

The 2021 rebrand from Angel Broking to Angel One was a deliberate repositioning toward a younger, more digital-first customer base — the corporate entity remained the same, but the consumer-facing brand, app, and marketing were overhauled. Angel One Limited has been publicly listed on the NSE and BSE since its October 2020 IPO, and describes itself as India's largest listed retail broking house (as of its own end-2021 reporting).

Since revamping its brokerage in November 2019 to compete more directly with discount brokers, Angel One has become a genuine hybrid: it retains full-service touches — research, advisory, a branch network, and NRI account support — while pricing itself close to discount-broker rates on most segments. By active NSE client count it's generally ranked the 3rd-largest broker in India, behind Groww and Zerodha, and reported a client base of roughly 3.8 crore (38.17 million) as of May 2026, up about 19.5% year-on-year.

Angel One's charge structure

This calculator models Angel One's confirmed current rate card, re-verified directly against angelone.in/support/charges-and-cashbacks/brokerage-charges: ₹20 or 0.1% of trade value (whichever is lower, minimum ₹5) on both equity delivery and intraday, and a flat ₹20 per executed order on futures and options. Angel One's own page states this delivery/intraday rate has applied "effective from November 1, 2024" — before that date Angel One's delivery brokerage was structured differently (commonly reported as free), which is why some older third-party reviews still describe Angel One as a zero-delivery-brokerage broker. DP charge is ₹20 + 18% GST (₹23.60) per scrip, confirmed directly from Angel One's own DP-charges page. Account opening is free; AMC is ₹0 in the first year, then roughly ₹60 + GST per quarter for non-BSDA accounts (BSDA accounts are tiered by holding value, and a prepaid lifetime-AMC option also exists) — not modeled in this calculator.

Angel One: pros & cons

Pros

  • A genuine hybrid: full-service touches — in-house research, advisory desks, NRI account support, and a physical branch network — at pricing that's now close to pure discount brokers on most segments, rather than the higher percentage-based rates full-service brokers traditionally charge.
  • Long track record (founded 1996, essentially 30 years old) and, since October 2020, a publicly listed company on the NSE and BSE — a level of disclosure most private discount brokers on this list don't have.
  • One of India's top 3 brokers by active NSE clients, with a reported client base of roughly 3.8 crore as of May 2026 and strong recent growth (~19.5% year-on-year).
  • ₹0 account opening and ₹0 AMC in the first year, confirmed directly from Angel One's own support pages.

Cons

  • As of November 1, 2024, Angel One began charging brokerage on equity delivery (₹20 or 0.1%, whichever is lower, minimum ₹5) — it's no longer a free-delivery broker, contrary to what some older reviews still say; investors relying on outdated information should double-check before assuming delivery is free.
  • AMC reverts to a non-zero charge after the first year (roughly ₹60 + GST per quarter for non-BSDA accounts) — not a permanent ₹0, though a prepaid lifetime-AMC option exists for those who want to avoid recurring charges.
  • DP charge of ₹20 + GST (₹23.60) per scrip is on the higher end of brokers compared here, versus Dhan's ₹14.75 or Zerodha's ₹15.34.
  • Flat ₹20 per order on futures and options regardless of trade size, the same structure most discount brokers on this list use — smaller F&O trades pay proportionally more than on a percentage-based fee.

Frequently asked questions

What is Angel One's brokerage on delivery trades?

₹20 or 0.1% of trade value, whichever is lower, with a minimum of ₹5 per order — confirmed directly from Angel One's own support page, effective from November 1, 2024. Angel One did not always charge this; some older reviews still describe it as a free-delivery broker, which is now out of date.

Is Angel One a full-service broker or a discount broker?

Both, in practice — Angel One started in 1996 as a traditional full-service broker with research, advisory, and branch support, and has kept those services while revamping its pricing since 2019 to be much closer to discount-broker rates. It's best described as a full-service broker that has adopted discount-style pricing, rather than either label alone.

Did Angel One rebrand from Angel Broking?

Yes — Angel Broking's board approved the rebrand in May 2021 and the new consumer-facing brand, Angel One, launched in August 2021. The underlying company and its long operating history are the same; only the public-facing name, app, and positioning changed, aimed at appealing to a younger, more digital-first customer base.

What are Angel One's DP charges?

₹20 + 18% GST (₹23.60) per scrip, confirmed directly from Angel One's own DP-charges support page — charged when you sell a delivery holding out of your demat account.

How big is Angel One compared to other brokers?

By active NSE client count, Angel One is generally ranked the 3rd-largest broker in India, behind Groww and Zerodha, with a reported client base of roughly 3.8 crore (38.17 million) as of May 2026 — up about 19.5% year-on-year. It's also been a publicly listed company on the NSE and BSE since its October 2020 IPO.
